Target killings: Shutter-down strike observed in Lyari

A shutter-down strike was observed in Lyari Karachi, where enraged people also set tyres on fire on roads and opened aerial fire, suspending business and social activities, here yesterday.
A large number of people belonging to different parts of Lyari also staged sit-in demonstrations at Maripur and Hawksbay Roads against the target killing of Baloch people.
The Lyari Peace Committee also organized a rally to restore peace in Lyari, Pak Colony and Garden. During the protest, the worst traffic jam took place on Maripur Road where a large number of vehicles stuck up on the road, while due to aerial fire, panic gripped the entire area, forcing people to close shops and other commercial centres.
The rally was led by Uzair Baloch from Lyari’s Baghdadi area. The protesters carrying playcards of Pakistan People’s Party, Baloch Liberation Army and Baloch Students Organization were raising slogans agaisnt target killings. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of accused involved in the target killing of Baloch people. (NC Report)
